What influences the price of a rose bouquet:

• The number of roses in the bouquet is, of course, the first factor affecting the price. A bouquet of 15 roses will cost significantly less than one with 51 roses.
• Stem length. It’s well known that the longer the rose, the higher its price. This is because longer roses require more resources—light, heat, and nutrients—for growth.
• Season. In the summer, the market is saturated with Moldovan roses, which are typically shorter (up to 40 cm) and have smaller buds. The price for a bouquet of Moldovan roses in summer is about half of what it is in winter. The price of Dutch roses remains more stable, though it decreases slightly in summer as growing costs are lower. Around major holidays like February 14th and March 8th, rose prices increase due to high demand.
• Variety. Different varieties have different prices. For example, a 50 cm red Freedom rose costs about half as much as a 50 cm David Austin rose. This is because the David Austin rose is an exclusive variety that requires special care in cultivation and transportation.

How to care for a bouquet of roses:

1. First and foremost, before placing the bouquet in a vase, the stems need to be trimmed. This is essential to refresh the cut, allowing the flowers to absorb water better. If the roses have been out of water for at least half an hour, the old cut will dry out and stop absorbing water. Trim the stems diagonally, ideally with a sharp, clean knife, cutting 1.5-2 cm off.
2. Clean, cold water is crucial for prolonging the life of the bouquet. The water level should cover about 2/3 of the stems.
3. A clean vase is important for all cut flowers. Thoroughly clean the vase after each use, as microorganisms left from the previous bouquet can accelerate the decay of the new flowers.
4. Remove excess leaves. Leaves can hinder the roses for two main reasons: they prevent water from reaching the bud, causing the bouquet to wilt quickly, and if leaves fall into the water, they speed up the decay process.
5. Keep the bouquet away from windows and heat sources, as roses dislike drafts, direct sunlight, and heat, which causes them to dry out quickly.
6. Change the water in the vase every 2-3 days, washing the vase each time.
